Breast Cancer Awareness

How did this come to our attention?

We organise free health check ups, at different places in our ward, for community intervention. One of such check up was for awareness and precaution of Breast Cancer.

Breast exams can significantly improve the chances of finding diseases early. And the earlier mild or deadly diseases are found, the easier it is to treat. Certain factors increase the risk of breast cancer including increasing age, obesity, harmful use of alcohol, family history of breast cancer, history of radiation exposure, reproductive history (such as age that menstrual periods began and age at first pregnancy), tobacco use and postmenopausal hormone therapy. We want to give the above awareness as well as run a check up on all participating individuals.

We start with awareness session and then fully immerse into exams of the individuals.

This has been very popular amongst women and we do this atleast one Saturday every month in different places in Kathmandu.
